British GP 2007 -Bombers Big Win-

The run up to this weekend and this years British Grand Prix were much more exciting for me than the run up to last years. Obviously this year I knew what the whole experience was going to be like and knew just how great it really was. The days running into the weekend were filled with thoughts of who was going to race and how much i wished i had £1500+ to bid on the chance to bein Hans Andersons pit crew for the GP.

The friday, the day before, was going to be a really boring day for me as I would be spending almost 8 hours on a train down to Cardiff. I knew that sitting on the rain would give me plenty of time to work on a great offer for hosting of websites for users of the Blog through my website hosting company, also to improve the main enter page of the blog and hopefully post some things on the blog. However as always there was a problem and for my first leg of the journey (Dunbar - Birmingham New Street) I was on a train with no wireless network! This left me with little to do apart from adapt some pages offline and then perhaps draft some blogs.

We arived at our b&b at 9pm with nothing, apart from the odd snack, to eat all day we considered taking a walk down to a “local” for a bite to eat and a beer. Well no beer for me!

This morning when I got up the first thing I saw and heard was the rain beating down as it had been for most of the night. Went out to the Speedway market which is right beside the stadium and bought airhorns, t-shirts. I then spoke to Jeff Scott, a great speedway writer, and bought another of his books. After a great lunch i settled down to rest for the rest of the day until it was time to get ready for the nights meeting.

Walking along towards the stadium at about 5 15pm was when it really hit me on what was just about to happen. It wasnt my first GP but this was the most excited I had been for one. The MaclDonald Brothers (a scottish band) were the first out to warm up the croud and i feel they did some of the best jobs they will ever do. Got the croud going for the next two acts.

The meeting itself was extremely exciting and watching Bomber beat Nikki and Jason in his first race was an amazing moment. All of the races throughout the night were extremely good to watch him beat Pederson and Crump in his first race. I feel the referee was a little soft throughout the night but did a great job anyway. Obviously seeing Bomber get into the final was an amzing thing and it got the entire croud even more fired up.

The final was an absolutely race and the fact that Bomber came from last (i cant remember if thats right was to happy) to second was great and everyone was on the edge of their seats shouting support to him. It gave the whole place an amazing atmosphere one which i thought could not be beaten. However I was wrong and when he came out of the last corner into the lead the croud excelled themselves in going absolutely crazy for Bomber.

Jason Crump and Greg Hancock were absolutely great to bomber as he went round the track in the car and even better when he was on the podium. So its hats off to them !!

Well done Chris “Bomber” Harris!!
