AJS sponsor Berwick Bandits in 2010
Berwick Bandits Speedway Club’s have revealed a new sponsorship deal that will see the return to motorcycle racing of the legendary “AJS” initials, when the timber, sawmilling company of A & J Scott Ltd become the Berwick Bandits Speedway main team sponsor for 2010.

After an action packed first season in charge of Berwick Bandits Speedway the new owners of the club, Anderson’s Butchers and Cornhill Village Shop are proud to announce they have signed a deal with the local family business to be the Bandits’ Main Team Sponsor for the 2010 Season.
Lynda Waite and Julie Jones from Cornhill Village Shop said: “We are delighted to have successfully completed a deal with local family-run business A & J Scott Ltd from Wooperton near Alnwick, who are large employers in the area and we hope this is just the start of a long term partnership. It’s a new year, a new decade and this is just the great news we need to kick off a great 2010.”
Chairman and Managing Director Andy Scott, son of the 1960 founder of the company said that he had been involved with sponsorship for the speedway at the recent Bordernapolis Meeting and saw a ten year lap record being broken by Britain’s top Grand Prix rider, Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris, and had been very excited by the high quality racing and enthusiastic crowd response.
He went on to say: “We are a local family company, in some ways like that of Berwick Speedway, and we are the biggest miller of British timber in the area, both hardwoods and softwoods, producing high quality sawn softwood for the fencing, pallet and packaging sectors as well as being large producers of potato boxes and similar for the agricultural market.
“We also supply selected hardwood timber for the top quality furniture market. We like to support local companies when we can, and welcome any trade enquiries.”
Lynda Waite added: “This sponsorship has been greatly welcomed and hopefully will mean that our aim of producing high quality, entertaining meetings at Shielfield every Saturday night continues.
“Anyone else, business or individuals, who wish to join in the support are invited to contact Andersons Quality Butchers or Cornhill Village Shop for further information on our new 2010 Sponsorship packages.”
