BERWICK JOIN WITH NEWCASTLE IN INOVATIVE FAN’S DEAL
The management of the A & J Scott Berwick Bandits and the Newcastle “Sapphire Engineering” Diamonds have joined forces in offering reduced admission prices to season ticket holders, in both legs of the Tyne/Tweed Trophy.
The event, now an annual season’s opener for the two local rivals rekindles that all-important local rivalry setting both sides up for what will surely be a hard and exciting season.
Newcastle season ticket holders will get a £2.00 discount off the normal admission price at Shielfield Park, Berwick on 20th March at 7.00pm for the first leg of the trophy, with the offer reciprocated for Berwick season ticket holders the following evening at Newcastle Greyhound Stadium at 6.30pm for the second leg.
This is applicable to season ticket holders only and the relevant season ticket must be presented at the turnstiles to qualify for discount.
Phil Newton on behalf of the Bandits and Darryl Illingworth from the Diamonds both acknowledged that this is a stepping stone to promote speedway on a wider scale with the trial perhaps being extended to other clubs and competitions as the season progresses.
The initiative is just one of a number of plans that both clubs have to reward loyalty of supporters with the Berwick Club pointing to their close association with their new Supporters Club as a starting point in delivering a better experience to Speedway supporters.
Newton said: “This is a very progressive idea and a one that can only benefit our supporters, indeed of both clubs, and I have to admit this pilot scheme can only lead to bigger and better ones, with the hope that many more speedway clubs will join in and enjoy the initiative the Bandits and the Diamonds have shown and will no doubt reap their just rewards from.”
