ANDREW TULLY out with broken pelvis !!
03.08.09 News ANDREW OUT WITH A BROKEN PELVIS
Andrew Tully visited Hospital today and received the shock news that he has broken his pelvis, which almost certainly brings his season to an end.
The crashes at Armadale on 24th July and at Wolverhampton on Monday have both probably contributed to the injury. Andrew walked in to Hospital today which amazed the medical staff, who thought he had done the impossible!

Tero “The Hero” Aarnio
Well after reading how "the Hero" rode at Glasgow for the Isle Of Wight on Sunday I felt it was probably time to give him a little space on my blog.
Tero came into the Berwick team this year as a relatively unknown rider and many of us did not know what to expect from him. Lucky for us he started off with some ok scores for the team and quite impressed us.

Bad night in Berwick
Tonight was not a great night in Berwick as many of you will read elsewhere.
Crashes in race one and three on the first corner but with no injuries.
However later in the night, Heat 4 i think, another crash on Bend 1 with new boy Scott "the Scud" Smith. A bike was thrown over the fence into 2 spectators. Both of whom were children.

Scuds Back :)
So glad to see this
Heres the press release:
This will be Smith’s 3rd session as a Bandit, in an association that goes back to around the turn of the Millennium for his first and 2005 for his second, but the prodigal son has made another highly anticipated comeback.
The Scud had kicked off 2008 with the Workington Comets, but as results were slow to come his Cumbrian bosses lost patience and let him go just as Berwick were looking for a replacement for the injured Italian, Guglielmo Franchetti.

The Anderson Are Back
Saving the day, everyone involved at Anderson's Quality Butchers Berwick Bandits are delighted to welcome back an excellent old friend.Anderson’s Quality Butchers are back as main team sponsors for the Berwick Bandits in 2008, dramatically saving a lot of heartache behind the scenes at the border club.
The last minute life-line for the team, to be known as “Anderson’s Quality Butchers Berwick Bandits” has been a very welcome relief for club boss Peter Waite who had been desperately searching for a team backer.

A good or bad end to Berwicks Season ?
Ok only 1 more meeting left at Berwick and with only 3 riders left on the team we are probably looking at a major defeat.
However to perhaps there is one good thing which has came out of this bad season ending. Peter Waite, Berwicks Promotor, has finally got his finger out (excuse the phrase) and officially released a signing for the 2008 season. However after seeing the rider ride at Edinburgh and then again at Berwick last Saturday i will say that perhaps he needs a little bit more time to practice before he moves into full PL speedway.

Crash Course In English
Here is an article I read in the Daily Mirror after first hearing about the incident on the Berwick Speedway Website :
A czech speedway rider who could barely speak English became suddenly fluent after a head injury.
Matej Kus could hardly string a sentence together until he was knocked out racing in Glasgow.
It is thought to be a case of foreign accent syndrome, which can affect concussion patients.

Monarchs Get First Away Win Of The Season At Newport
The Scotwaste Monarchs fought back from a 7-point deficit to take a 47-42 victory at Newport on Sunday afternoon.
They were indebted to a spectactular and thrilling performance from guest Lee Complin, standing in for Matthew Wethers, but there were good performances elsewhere in the team, notably Ronnie Correy's sound dozen.
Complin made brilliant use of a good outside line and was almost unstoppable, losing out only in heat 12 when Phil Morris used blocking tactics to cut off Lee's run.
