Sorry to hear of Bernies passing. I will always link him with fellow New Zealand International Promotions (Mike Parker) riders like Terry Shearer, Murray Burt and the late Gary Peterson. They were all based in Manchester around 1967/8, getting rides occasionally at Newcastle. They were all great friends and fiercly competitive with each other on and off the track. Their mentor was Ivan Mauger who lived close-by in the suburbs of Manchester, before his move to leafy Woodford in Cheshire.
Bernie, Terry, Murray and Gary are still after 40 years some of my very favourite people I have had the privelage to call a friend.

I met Roy in 1970. A really nice, very funny guy. Good rider, too.
